Lucy joined Futurecity as Project Manager in September 2008 having previously worked as Curator/Gallerist for Osborne Samuel, an established Mayfair art gallery specialising in modern and contemporary painting and sculpture. There she worked closely with the gallery’s artists including contemporary sculptors Sean Henry and Peter Burke, painters Peter Sedgley and George Dannatt, as well as managing artist’s estates including those of Peter Kinley and Edward Wadsworth. In addition, the gallery advised and supported many emerging artists.
Since joining the team at Futurecity, she has worked on a number of high profile projects including curating Peter Newman’s Skystation, a public sculptural seating project at the Hayward Gallery, London and project managing the larger editioned Skystation seating project across the UK. She is currently working on a large international public art project with Highland Homes Ltd in Cambridge with international artists Jim Isermann, Jennifer Steinkamp and Sarah Staton.
Lucy has extensive experience of working with prominent national and international artists as well as newly emerging talent. Her portfolio of curated exhibitions includes Towards a Rational Aesthetic: Constructive Art in Post-war Britain; Keith Vaughan 1912 – 1977 and a collaborative exhibition Masterpieces of Modern British Art with Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum of Wales.
With an academic background in Anthropology, specialising in Visual Culture, followed by postgraduate research in History of Art, Lucy previously worked as a freelance curator, project managing a number of socio-political touring exhibition projects, in addition to working at east London art gallery Museum 52 as assistant gallery manager. There she was involved in the launch of Zoo Art Fair as well as curating exhibitions for cutting edge contemporary artists including Tom Gallant and Nick Waplington.
