Futurecity are the curators on the Snow Hill Landmark Project, a major public art commission.

Seven artists were shortlisted to develop proposals for the commission: Art + Com, Mark & Stephen Beasley, Liam Gillick, Charles Hadcock, Mark Titchner, Keith Wilson and Richard Woods. The selection panel included Birmingham City Council, Arts Council England, Arts & Business, University of Central England, and the IKON gallery in partnership and representatives from Ballmore's design team.

Liam Gillick's winning proposal is for a 200m long 7m high text piece running along the metroline on the Snow Hill site.

Gillick's proposal will become a high profile, unique and recognisable part of the Snow Hill business district. It will join and enrich the strong cultural offer of the city: Brindley Place for instance combines retail, restaurant and commercial mixes with the internationally renowned Ikon Gallery at the centre, and Urban Splash's conversion of the 'Rotunda' will place a major media artwork at the top of the tower as part of the scheme by Glen Howells Architects. The Landmark will reinforce and extend this cultural vision of Birmingham's thriving arts and architecture led regeneration scene, placing a beacon artwork at the centre of the city.
