Futurecity have developed the first stage of a comprehensive and far reaching Cultural Strategy for the Stockwell Park and Robsart Estate in Lambeth. The cultural strategy document will be designed to provide a project toolkit based on a substantial four week consultation process with local people who live, work in and visit the Stockwell Park and Robsart Estate.
The initial mapping and cultural audit carried out by Fabiane Perrella drew out three areas of interest to the community; public art as a programme of integrated arts and crafts within the architecture, amenities, landscape and public realm; way-finding, route-ways, navigation, trails and destinations and gateways; creative industries, education and partnerships.
The consultation also identified nine key groups and champions living on the estate, using and travelling through Stockwell Park and Robsart Estate, Skaters and Cyclists, Mums and Toddlers, Young People, residents, Portuguese and Hispanic Communities, Graffiti and Street Artists and Visitors.
The mapping sessions provided real deliverable ideas and approaches for seven key public spaces throughout the development linked to the masterplan for the estate drawn up by the project architects BPTW and landscape architects Gensler.
