Richard Wilson's first permanent sculpture in London has been commissioned to be sited within the central square of the development.
Wilson's sculpture will examine the history and future of the scheme by using physical references to the new architecture. Constructed from cast aluminium panels, and the work will comprise of a 'scattering' of three large sculptural forms which will appear to have been dropped into the square from a great height, sinking into the Square at angles as if the force of their impact was great enough to displace the ground. The grouping of objects will appear to be some kind of small settlement, the plane of each structure will be comprised of an idiosyncratic mixture of building materials; monolithic versions of improvised buildings.
