Working with collaborators UAP and Hollwich Kushner Architects, Futurecity devised the strategic framework to deliver 1,000 public artworks across the city of Riyadh. Riyadh Arts is one of the biggest and most ambitious of the Vision 2030 projects to date and the masterplan received Royal Decree and is now in delivery.
A living strategy, the The Riyadh Art masterplan is comprised of 11 art programs featuring a mixture of temporary and permanent works to be designed by a mixture of local, regional and international artists.
Futurecity led the development of the strategic vision for the programme, structuring the narrative for the 11 art programs that comprise Riyadh Arts. Futurecity identified public art typologies across digital and analog, interactive and static, defining key opportunities for local, regional and international artists across the 11 programs. Futurecity also led the design teams in selecting the sites for artwork.
In addition to setting the vision, narrative and framework for public artworks for the city of Riyadh, Futurecity also led the team in developing the governance and delivery framework for the artworks.
