Futurecity was appointed by NEOM to develop the public art placemaking strategy for Trojena, a landmark destination within Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan. Set within a spectacular mountain landscape, Trojena will be a global tourism and lifestyle destination, combining natural beauty with pioneering architectural and cultural experiences including ski resorts, lakeside developments, hotels and residential communities.
Futurecity produced a visionary public art masterplan designed to highlight Trojena’s extraordinary environmental context and cultural heritage. The strategy integrates public art across key zones of the masterplan including the lakeside and mountain access routes, aimed at creating moments of wonder, reflection, and connection throughout the visitor journey.
The vision proposes a layered approach to placemaking, identifying opportunities for permanent sculpture, immersive installations, and responsive interventions that transform through light, weather and digital augmentation, transforming the environment into a living cultural experience.
Futurecity’s collaboration with the NEOM design and planning teams has embedded these art opportunities into infrastructure and landscape frameworks from the earliest stages. The curatorial direction will extend through artist selection, concept development and delivery, producing a framework strongly aligned with NEOM’s broader innovation, sustainability, and cultural goals.
The Trojena public art masterplan seeks to position the site not only as a global tourist hub, but also as a cultural landmark where art and landscape converge to shape a truly unique visitor experience.
