Untitled

Untitled is a permanent façade artwork by fine jewellery designer Jo Hayes Ward, commissioned by Mount Anvil and curated by Futurecity for Queen’s Wharf in Hammersmith. The piece is located at the entrance to the redeveloped Riverside Studios, a world-renowned cultural venue. This commission marked Hayes Ward’s first public realm project and her debut at an architectural scale.

Futurecity managed the project end-to-end - developing the artist brief, overseeing a competitive selection process, and ensuring delivery through to installation. A shortlist of artists was invited to respond to the site and surrounding context. The final selection panel, including representatives from Mount Anvil and Riverside Studios, chose Hayes Ward for her detailed, geometric approach and her ability to translate complex ideas into elegant form.

Drawing inspiration from the local area’s topography and the River Thames, Hayes Ward explored themes of water, movement, gravity and urban convergence. The result is a dynamic composition of five steel plate formations that shift in light throughout the day, anchored by a central cast aluminium bronze cube that reflects her signature design style.

The artwork sits at a crucial point of arrival - bridging public realm and cultural institution. It is intended to complement the Riverside Studios’ creative activity and Queen’s Wharf’s architectural design, while enhancing the identity of the development as a cultural and civic gateway.

Untitled is one of three Mount Anvil commissions curated by Futurecity, alongside Column by Studio Swine and Ecliptical Spheres by James Hopkins.
