Futurecity joins Opportunity London as Partner & Advisor

16 April 2024

As a proud Londoner and Founder of Futurecity, I am extremely pleased to share the news that we have joined Opportunity London as a sponsor, partner and advisor. Opportunity London, led by CEO Jace Tyrrell, is designed to attract investment for London, the world’s ‘cultural city’ defined by its cultural diversity, creative energy, and artistic expression. Futurecity look forward to leading the conversation on how the arts and culture-led placemaking can form part of Opportunity London's campaign to attract new funding and investment for London. Mark Davy, Futurecity Founder & CEO

Futurecity will join the venture, which is backed by all 32 London Boroughs, the Mayor of London, London Councils, the City of London Corporation, London’s Business Improvement Districts, and senior business leaders. This is the first time all tiers of London Government of all political affiliations have united with business to promote investment opportunities for the Capital. Given the challenges to funding for the arts in a post-Brexit landscape, the role that London's cultural industries play in delivering economic and social value of our city cannot be underestimated. As the arts, culture and placemaking specialists within the network, Futurecity will bring our unique access to the real estate and investor market to Opportunity London. We will develop a Cultural Placemaking Toolkit for the 32 London boroughs, designed to unlock opportunities for the arts in brownfield and regeneration sites across the capital.

Futurecity are already working closely with the City of London in its transition from a 200-year-old financial centre to a mixed-use cultural destination by delivering multiple cultural projects for commercial developers, investors and the city itself. For 17 years we have worked across London in both the public and private sector, delivering cultural strategies designed to deliver real outcomes. We have brokered major cultural partnerships with organisation such as the Royal Philharmonic OrchestraRoyal College of ArtCentre Pompidou and the Migration Museum, and created new cultural spaces for artists, cultural organisations, universities, and galleries. Futurecity’s curatorial approach has influenced large scale public art projects including theIlluminated River Project, Crossrail Culture Line, Slipstream at Heathrow T2 and the strategy behind Sculpture in the City - as well as cultural and placemaking strategies for Wembley Park Limited, Greenwich Peninsula, Earls Court, Heart of London Business Alliance , Barking Riverside LimitedOld Spitalfields Market and Battersea Power Station.
