Light & Water

Light & Water is a permanent public art commission by artists Kate Davis and David Moore, situated within the public realm of Riverlight, a mixed-use development on the south bank of the Thames. The work was commissioned as part of the Riverlight cultural strategy developed by Futurecity for St James (Berkeley Group), in collaboration with landscape architects Gillespies.

Responding to the riverside setting and the site’s changing light conditions, Light & Water is composed of a series of reflective interventions integrated throughout the landscape. Using water, light, and polished steel, the works are designed to be discovered gradually - appearing and disappearing with the movement of the sun, seasons, and viewer. The reflective materials interact with natural and built elements, creating a quiet counterpoint to the dense urban context.

The commission forms part of a wider artist-led programme at Riverlight, which also includes works by Simon & Tom Bloor and Peter Newman. Together, these projects support a strategy for integrating contemporary art into landscape design and enriching public life within a growing residential neighbourhood.
