Futurecity created a visionary Cultural Strategy for The Mark, a new heritage and culture-led development at 47-50 Mark Lane. Working alongside Danish architects 3XN/GXN, the strategy proposes a digitally immersive Heritage Learning Centre, connecting local communities, schools and cultural institutions in a state-of-the-art, flexible venue. Located in a sensitive heritage setting near the Tower of London World Heritage Site, the project places cultural infrastructure at the heart of the City’s transformation under the Destination City campaign.
The Heritage Centre will feature a digital exhibition hall, flexible learning and event space, and a plaza for outdoor performances and public engagement. The programme supports both free public benefit - offered through heritage education and outreach - as well as ticketed international museum pop-ups, enabling a sustainable operating model.
The Mark activates a key site within the City’s cultural “Heritage Loop,” unlocking new narratives and inviting global museum partners to engage with local audiences. With direct support from stakeholders such as Historic England, GEM, Imperial War Museums and National Gallery X, the project will strengthen the City’s position as a cultural capital by blending heritage, innovation and education into a single, accessible cultural hub.
