100 New Bridge Street

Located at the threshold of London’s Culture Mile, 100 New Bridge Street repositions a key City gateway through a bold cultural vision. Commissioned by Helical, Futurecity created a cultural strategy in collaboration with architects Gensler and landscape designer Tom Stuart Smith to animate the building’s perimeter, ground floor, and public realm.

The strategy draws on the site’s layered histories - from Roman Londinium and the River Fleet to Blackfriars Monastery and Shakespearean theatre - embedding creative interventions throughout the scheme. Five major projects define the plan: from enhancing Rupert Spira’s tile artworks and activating Waithman Street, to an XR heritage app, playful artist-commissioned plaques, and a ‘Performative Square’ for festivals and events.

The cultural plan frames 100 New Bridge Street as a key cultural anchor in the emerging Destination City vision. It shifts underused streets into dynamic pedestrian experiences, enriching the City’s commercial core through layered storytelling, illumination and performance. Through this strategy, 100 New Bridge Street becomes more than a workplace - it is a connector of culture, commerce, and community.
